About the speaker: 

Farah joined the lab of Prof Wolfram Zimmermann at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology to do her PhD in Stem Cell research and the bioengineering of a human heart muscle to recapitulate embryonic cardiac development. After graduation, she stayed in the lab for 4 years as a postdoc to wrap up projects.

In spring 2020 Farah joined Boehringer Ingelheim for 2 years as a postdoctoral research fellow to establish a kidney model for toxicity assessment of drugs during the preclinical stage. This paved the way to subsequently join Roche in Basel within the Investigative Toxicology group in 2022 working on projects and in vitro model development for both the kidney and liver drug induced injuries. Farah is happy to share her career journey and experiences also regarding starting a new job with a very young family.
