DFG statement on AI and Research Integrity
The DFG has already announced that the use of AI in funding applications is permitted, provided that its use is transparently disclosed. In the future, the statement will also be updated to allow the use of AI in the peer review process (subject to compliance with key principles such as confidentiality, transparency, quality assurance, and responsibility).
Information about this future development – expected to be in place sometimes in 2026 – is available here (currently only German). In addition, the Ombuds Committee for Scientific Integrity in Germany (OWiD) has published an update of its FAQs about AI and good research practice.
