DFG Emmy Noether Junior Groups “Methods in Artificial Intelligence” (submit draft proposal by 10 June 2026)

Artificial intelligence (AI) methods have now become key techniques in a wide variety of research fields and are increasingly becoming an integral part of scientific knowledge-generation processes. Research into AI methods is essential in this regard and encompasses the development and refinement of AI methods, as well as the analysis and evaluation of these methods. As part of its strategic funding initiative on AI, the DFG therefore aims to specifically support researchers in the early stages of their careers in this field.

The aim of the fourth call for proposals is once again to attract the next generation of highly qualified researchers to AI method development by opening up early-career opportunities offering a high degree of autonomy.

Deadline for draft proposal: 10 June 2026 (you need to register as an applicant with the DFG at least 1 week prior to this deadline)
Invitation to full proposal to be expected: early October 2026
Deadline for full proposal: 2 December 2026
