GSO Webinar “Let’s talk about Altersvorsorge for Researchers” (22 April 2026)

Do you want to learn more about retirement planning then take this opportunity and attend this webinar by GSO (Guidance, Skills & Opportunites for Researchers) on “Basics of Retirement Planning for Researchers” taking place on 22 April 2026 at 12-13:15h in German.

Many researchers put off dealing with the retirement issue for a long time – or don’t even give it a second thought. Because research takes centre stage. And because academic careers are often difficult to plan: fixed-term contracts, international mobility, changing institutions. But what does this actually mean for one’s own financial future?

Together with financial expert Stephan Busch, the GSO will discuss the basics of retirement planning – specifically for researchers inlcuding topics like

  • When should you start planning for retirement?
  • What exactly does retirement planning involve?
  • What are the first steps?
  • What are the most common mistakes made in this area?
  • And how can I tackle this successfully?

The focus is deliberately on guidance and realistic first steps – explained clearly and with plenty of time for your questions. The session is aimed at PhDs and postdocs, research managers who advise or support researchers and anyone who would like to start thinking about financial planning early on.
