Introduction to Statistics for PhD students – 4-day course (Sept 2025)
This course gives an overview over some core principles of Statistics. It is best suited for beginners and those who would like to refresh their knowledge about Statistics for their PhD.
The course will cover the following topics:
- Descriptive statistics and basic graphical visualization
- The idea of statistical inference
- Statistical testing
- T-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA)
- Nonparametric tests
- Basisics of regression analysis
- Linear models
- Generalized linear models
- Mixed models
The course will take place on 1.-2. and 8.-9. of September, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The courses will take place in the Seminarroom 0.104 in Humboldtalle 3.
The afternoon sessions will be dedicated to practical exercises that can be done in groups or individually.
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance if requested. Moreover, there is the option of receiving 1 Credit if submitting an additional homework of 3-4 pages.
