This information is also available with some more details on our homepage under Supprt –> Advice & Counseling.

Personal conflict situations

In case you are in need for professional help with personal/private/mental health problems, please do not hesitate to contact the Psychosocial Counselling (PSC), or the Psychotherapeutic Outpatient Clinic (in German: Psychotherapeutische Ambulanz für Studierende = PAS).

The PSC is an institution of the Studentenwerk, for students of all universities in Göttingen.

The PAS is part of the Clinic of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy of the University Medical Center (UMG) and serves for Students of the University of Göttingen. In terms of content, the PAS differs from the PSC only in the way that it is also possible to treat patients with medication, as medical doctors work in the outpatient clinic

Both facilities are therefore suitable for you. However, in times of the COVID-19 pandemic the PSC is absolutely overcrowded (several months waiting time). Thus, please contact the PAS, which guarantees quick help with, at the moment, only one week waiting time.
All employees of PSC & PAS, therapists and medial doctors, are obliged to secrecy. The information and data you share with them are handeled confidential and will not be forwarded to third parties. Counselling is also possible anonymously (on request).

Open Consultation Hours

Both institutions have Open Consultation Hours by telephone in which you can call and speak to a counsellor.
For the PAS, this is a short consultation for initial clarification(s) – Monday to Wendnesday from 14:00 to 15:00 and Thursday and Friday from 11:00 to 12:00, Tel. 0551 – 39-4596; or by Email: pas(at)uni-goettingen.de.
For the PSC – Monday to Thursday from 12:00 to 13:00, with the possibility to speak English on Wednesday, Tel. 0551 – 39-35292.

Doctoral students employed at a Max Planck Institute can also contact the Consultation Service for Employees
