Information for Postdocs and late-stage PhDs

Postdoc opportunities offered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has two postdoc research funding opportunites, which might be of particular interest for you.

The Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship supports postdoctoral researchers who want to join a lab outside of Germany to do their own research project with a duration of 6-24 months. You are eligible to apply 6 months prior to your PhD and 4 years after receiving your PhD. For further information check out the programme details here.

The Humboldt Research Fellowship is for those of you who want to carry out their research in Germany and have lived outside Germany for a minimum of 12 months in total in the 18-month period prior to submission of the application. Details on the application procedure and programme are available here.

Applications can be submitted any time but please be aware of that the panel is only meeting a few times per year – next time in June – and you need to submit your application well in advance of these meetings to ensure that it has completed the reviewing process by then.

Please note that the AvH Foundation has a great network of Humoldt Fellows and outstanding benefits available to previous fellows. For further details check out their webpage.
