Maria Leptin/EMBO Science Journalism Fellowships (aplly by 1 June 2024)
Maria Leptin/EMBO Science Journalism Fellowships are aimed at bioscientists who wish to pursue a career in science journalism and journalists who want to deepen and broaden their knowledge of the latest research areas and technologies. Fellows receive stipends for 2-12 months to fund their stays in media outlets of any type, editorials offices or research institutions that make the fellows advance in their careers as science journalists. The scholarships are intended to cover living expenses as well as travel and labour costs. They were made possible by a private donation from Maria Leptin.

Read more: Maria Leptin/EMBO Science Journalism Fellowships (aplly by 1 June 2024)Eligibility: Life science applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or higher, and must have published samples of any kind of their work in science journalism on topics related to basic biological research. Active science journalists who apply have a proven record of working full-time as employed or freelance science journalists and provide appropriate samples of their work. The scheme is designed to promote science journalism skills in the field of life sciences and basic research, but is not intended to focus on theoretical work about journalism.
Applicants are residing in one of the 31 EMBC Member States and apply for internships or volunteer positions in editorial offices or for stays in scientific institutions in the same or another of the EMBC Member States. If participants in the scheme wish to work in two or more editorial offices or to further their education at two or more research institutions, at least one stay should be in a different EMBC Member State than the other stays. Applicants are not subject to any age restriction.
