Resilience Training for Academics – PostDocs and PhDs (15 Sep 2025, register until 12 Sep)

Working in academia often entails several challenges: In most positions, a high level of self-organization is necessary, excellent research needs to be conducted, teaching and publishing has to be tended to, funding proposals need to be written and leadership skills have to be developed. Additionally, administrative tasks can take up many hours each day. Many scientists also have care work responsibilities.
This multitude of demanding and very different tasks can lead to a feeling of being overwhelmed or stressed and it can lead to the motivation to take care of one’s own mental and physical health.
In this workshop, participants will receive an overview of research results on the topics of mindfulness, resilience and body awareness, as well as theories and methods that are relevant and compatible with the scientifi c work context.
The focus is on the practice of a mindful attitude and the experience-based discussion of the topics of resilience and self-leadership. Body awareness is trained and participants are thus given everyday access to their own resources.
At the same time, there will also be discussions on how the structures of the academic fi eld affect one’s own experience. The workshop doesn’t aim at self-optimization, but enables participants to deal with their surrounding structures in the most benefi cial way possible.
