New course offers on Good Scientific Practice for PhD Students of the Faculty of Geoscience and Geography and Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science
Attending a course on Good Scientific Practice is a mandatory requirement for the completion of your PhD. GAUSS/GGNB offers various GSP courses throughout the year but most of them are focused on specific research fields (i.e. Biology, Physics, Chemistry, etc.) and trainers usually do not admit students from other faculties.
We are therefore pleased to inform you, that the Faculty of Geoscience and Geography has organized a new workshop on Good Scientific Practice in the upcoming winter semester 2025/26.
The online workshop “Scientists Need More! Good Scientific Practice” will be offered on 16 December 2025. 0,5 Credits can be awarded for participating in this workshop. You can sign up for this workshop in Stud-IP from 1-20 October 2025.
Also, the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science organized two Good Scientific Practice seminars taking place in the upcoming winter term:
“Good Scientific Practice in Computer and Data Science” will be offered in October 2025 and February/March 2026. 2 Credits can be awarded for participating in this workshop. The course dates are 23-24 Oct 2025, 23 February 2026 and 23 March 2026. Further information can be found here: https://hps.vi4io.org/teaching/autumn_term_2025/gosci.
Furthermore, Prof. Preda Mihăilescu will offer the workshop “Good scientific practice for mathematicians” again on Thursday, 19 February 2026 from 14-17h. PhD students from the Faculty of Computer Science can also join. You can register for it in Stud.IP (course number 500071).
Details about the location and contents of the courses will be communicated to registered participants in due time.
