PROMOS Funding for Language & Specialist Courses Abroad starting on 1 Jan 2026 (apply by 30 Sep 2025)
With its program to promote the mobility of students (PROMOS) of German institutes of higher education, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) allocates scholarship funds to German universities to assist (PhD) students with scholarships and travelling allowances, so that they can undertake study trips and internships abroad which are relevant to their studies.
For PhD students two projects are eligible for assistance:
- Language courses for PhD students (3 weeks to 6 months)
- Specialist seminars and training courses for PhD students (5 days to 6 weeks)
Successful candidates may receive monthly scholarship allowances and/or travelling allowances. The type of assistance to be granted in each case is decided by the university.
Application deadline: 30 September 2025 (for project starts from 1 January 2026)
