Event: “The Future of Supporting Early-Career Researchers” (22 Nov 2024)
The event, organized by the German University Alliance (UA) 11+ e.V., is taking place on 22 November 2024 at the Amplifier, Amperium near Humboldthain, Gustav-Meyer-Allee 25, 13355 Berlin.
It aims to gather representatives from politics and academia in a creative space to discuss innovative support and development opportunities beyond the binary thinking pattern of fixed-term versus permanent contracts. It focuses particularly on researchers in the early stages of their academic careers.
Furthermore, European as well as international perspectives and practices are taken into
consideration to showcase and discuss alternative approaches of academic support.
How can working conditions in academia be improved, and how can university management and
policymakers work together more effectively to achieve this? What alternative career paths are there,
and how can the research and innovation activities of scientists in Germany be further promoted?
What is there to learn from other countries regarding successful career development?
By discussing these and other questions, a new space for solutions will be created, aiming to
constructively contribute to the differentiation of the ongoing German debate on academic career
support especially in light of the Academic-Fixed-Term-Contract-Act (WissZeitVG).
Participation is free of charge.
