Neues aus dem Stadtlabor
Das Institut für Diversitätsforschung ist zusammen mit anderen Akteur*innen am „Stadtlabor 2.0 – Wege zur kolonialkritischen Stadt“ beteiligt. Unter anderem findet das Community-based-research-Seminar „Diversity vor Ort“ in diesem akademischen Jahr im Kontext des Stadtlabors statt.
Seit kurzer Zeit befindet sich im Stadtlabor (Wilhelmsplatz 3, 37073 Göttingen) ein offenes Archiv im Aufbau. Alle sind herzlich eingeladen, zu stöbern, zu ergänzen und mitzugestalten. Das Archiv ist für alle während der Öffnungszeiten (Montag 15-19 Uhr, Donnerstag 10-14 Uhr) frei zugänglich und kann nach Absprache auch außerhalb der Zeiten genutzt werden.
Folgende Veranstaltungen sind im November und Dezember im Stadtlabor geplant:
17.11. 19 – 21 Uhr Film & Gespräch: “Sodom and Gomorrah – Exporting Homophobia to Africa”
eine Veranstaltung des Stadtlabors zusammen mit dem VNB e.V. und dem Queeren Zentrum Göttingen
Der Film „Sodom & Gomorrah: Exporting Homophobia to Africa“ untersucht den soziokulturellen und politischen Einfluss westlicher rechtsgerichteter Evangelikaler und ihrer religiös-christlichen Vorstellungen. Das Thema wirft Fragen über die Bedeutung der Menschenrechte für queere Menschen in Afrika auf, die durch die daraus resultierenden Verfolgungen vielfach zu Flüchtlingen gemacht werden. In einem Vortrag wird Namupa Shivute den Kampf für die Rechte afrikanischer LGBTQI+ Menschen und die Auswirkungen lokaler und globaler Rechtssysteme beleuchten. Im Anschluss an die Veranstaltung findet eine Gruppendiskussion statt.
Namupa Shivute (they/them) ist ein:e afrikanische:r Geschichtenerzähler:in, Wissenschaftler:in und freier Journalist:in aus Namibia.
18.11. 10-22 Uhr Bildungstag: Über_Leben In Göttingen
Eine Veranstaltung von Göttingen Postkolonial
Am 18.11.2023 läd die Vernetzung Göttingen Postkolonial ins „Stadtlabor – Wege zur kolonialkritischen Stadt“ ein, um über das Leben und Überleben in Göttingen zu sprechen und sich über Herausforderungen und Ansätze für ein Gutes Leben für Alle jenseits von Gewalt- und Unterdrückung auszutauschen. Es wird Workshops vom AK Asyl, dem BIPoC Kollektiv und Göttingen Postkolonial mit Namupa Shivute geben und ab 19 Uhr ein Panelgespräch. Mehr Informationen bei goettingen-postkolonial.de.
20.11. 18 Uhr Kennenlernabend: Göttingen Postkolonial
Die Vernetzung Göttingen Postkolonial richtet am 20.11 ab 18 Uhr im Stadtlabor einen Kennenlernabend für alle Interessierte aus.
30.11. 15-18 Uhr Input & Austausch: “Rassismus in Schulbüchern” – Postkoloniale Perspektiven im Unterricht
„Welches Bild vermitteln Schulbücher von Menschen außerhalb Europas? Wie können Schulbücher diskriminierungssensibel gestaltet werden?“ In Kooperation mit dem Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsmedien | Georg-Eckert-Institut laden wir im Rahmen des Stadtlabors insbesondere Lehrer*innen und angehende Pädagog*innen ein, gemeinsam einen kritischen Blick in Schulbücher und den aktuellen Umgang mit Rassismus und Kolonialismus im Unterricht zu werfen. Prof. Riem Spielhaus, Professorin für Islamwissenschaft mit dem Schwerpunkt Bildung und Wissenskulturen, wird uns in das Thema einführen und aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse und Handlungsoptionen vorstellen. 11.12. 16-18 Uhr Workshop: Kolonialkritische Erinnerungskultur in Göttingen
Nach der Vor-Studie “Koloniale Vergangenheit in Göttingen?” möchten wir zum öffentlichen Dialog zum Umgang mit kolonialen Spuren im Stadtbild einladen. Dazu werden Charlotte Prauß, Geschichtswissenschaftlerin und Verfasserin der Studie, sowie Sarah Böger, Koordinatorin des Stadtlabors und Gründungsmitglied von Göttingen Postkolonial, in einem Workshop anhand verschiedener Beispiele einen Dialograum in Kleingruppen eröffnen, um Möglichkeiten einer kolonialismus- und rassismuskritischen Weiterentwicklung der Erinnerungskultur zu erarbeiten.

The Diversity Research Institute is one of several partners in the „City Lab – Paths towards a colonial-critical city“. Among other things, the community-based research seminar „Diversity on Site“ will take place in the context of the city lab this academic year.
An open archive is currently being set up in the City Lab (Wilhelmsplatz 3, 37073 Göttingen). Everyone is cordially invited to browse, add to, and help organise it. The archive is freely accessible to everyone during opening hours (Monday 3-7pm, Thursday 10am-2pm) and can also be used outside of these times by prior arrangement.

17.11. 7 – 9 pm Film & Talk: „Sodom and Gomorrah – Exporting Homophobia to Africa“
an event organised by Stadtlabor together with VNB e.V. and Queeres Zentrum Göttingen
The film „Sodom & Gomorrah: Exporting Homophobia to Africa“ examines the socio-cultural and political influence of Western right-wing evangelicals and their religious-Christian ideas. The topic raises questions about the meaning of human rights for queer people in Africa, many of whom are made refugees by the resulting persecution. In a lecture, Namupa Shivute will shed light on the struggle for the rights of African LGBTQI+ people and the impact of local and global legal systems. The event will be followed by a group discussion.
Namupa Shivute (they/them) is an African storyteller, researcher and freelance journalist from Namibia.
18.11. 10-22 h Education Day: Über_Leben In Göttingen
An event organised by Göttingen Postkolonial
On 18 November 2023, the network Göttingen Postkolonial invites you to the City Lab to talk about life and survival in Göttingen and to exchange ideas about challenges and approaches for a good life for all beyond violence and oppression. There will be workshops by AK Asyl, the BIPoC collective and Göttingen Postkolonial with Namupa Shivute and a panel discussion from 7 pm. More information at goettingen-postkolonial.de.
20.11. 6 pm get-to-know-evening: Göttingen Postcolonial
The Göttingen Postcolonial Network is organising an evening for all interested parties on 20 November from 6 pm in the City Lab.
30.11. 3-6 pm Input & exchange: „Racism in textbooks“ – postcolonial perspectives in the classroom
„What image do textbooks convey of people outside Europe? How can textbooks be designed to be sensitive to discrimination?“ In cooperation with the Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsmedien | Georg Eckert Institute, we invite teachers and prospective teachers in particular to take a critical look at textbooks and the current way racism and colonialism are dealt with in the classroom as part of the Stadtlabor. Prof Riem Spielhaus, Professor of Islamic Studies with a focus on education and knowledge cultures, will introduce us to the topic and present current research findings and options for action. 11.12. 4-6 p.m. Workshop: Colonial-critical culture of remembrance in Göttingen
Following the preliminary study „Colonial past in Göttingen?“, we would like to invite you to a public dialogue on how to deal with colonial traces in the cityscape. To this end, Charlotte Prauß, historian and author of the study, and Sarah Böger, coordinator of the Stadtlabor and founding member of Göttingen Postkolonial, will open up a space for dialogue in small groups in a workshop based on various examples in order to develop possibilities for a further development of the culture of remembrance.
