“Rassismus in Schulbüchern” – Postkoloniale Perspektiven im Unterricht. Fortbildung für Lehrkräfte, 20.02.2024
Eine Veranstaltung im Rahmen des Stadtlabors

„Welches Bild vermitteln Schulbücher von Menschen außerhalb Europas? Wie können Schulbücher diskriminierungssensibel gestaltet werden?“
In Kooperation mit dem Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsmedien | Georg-Eckert-Institut laden wir im Rahmen des Stadtlabors insbesondere Lehrer*innen und angehende Pädagog*innen ein, gemeinsam einen kritischen Blick in Schulbücher und den aktuellen Umgang mit Rassismus und Kolonialismus im Unterricht zu werfen. Prof. Riem Spielhaus, Professorin für Islamwissenschaft mit dem Schwerpunkt Bildung und Wissenskulturen, wird uns in das Thema einführen und aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse und Handlungsoptionen vorstellen.
In Folgeveranstaltungen ab April 2024 werden wir die Unterrichtsmaterialen aus dem Projekt Zwischentöne kennenlernen. Darauf aufbauend wollen wir für den Göttinger Kontext Unterrichtskonzepte für Themen wie Erinnerungskultur und den Genozid an Herero und Nama weiterentwickeln und dafür lokale Geschichte und koloniale Spuren miteinbeziehen.

„Racism in School Textbooks“ – post-colonial perspectives in teaching. An event for teachers on 20.02.2024

„What image do textbooks convey of people outside Europe? How can textbooks be designed to be sensitive to discrimination?“
In cooperation with the Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsmedien | Georg Eckert Institute, we invite teachers and prospective educators in particular to take a critical look at textbooks and how racism and colonialism are currently dealt with in the classroom. Professor Riem Spielhaus, Professor of Islamic Studies with a focus on education and knowledge cultures, will introduce us to the topic and present current research findings and options for action.
In follow-up events from April 2024 onwards, we will familiarise ourselves with the teaching materials from the „Zwischentöne“ project. Building on this, we want to further develop teaching concepts for the Göttingen context for topics such as the culture of remembrance and the genocide of the Herero and Nama, incorporating local history and colonial traces.
