Die Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG) feiert in diesem Jahr ihr 75-jähriges Bestehen. An ihrem Gründungsort Göttingen lädt sie am Freitag, 23. Juni 2023 zum Max-Planck-Tag ein. Staunen, Entdecken und Mitmachen können alle Interessierten auf einem Wissenschaftsmarkt, bei Führungen und Präsentationen sowie einem Science Slam. Außerdem wird die Wanderausstellung über die Nobelpreisträger*innen der MPG im Forum Wissen eröffnet.
Max-Planck-Tag
Grundlagenforschung in all ihrer Vielfalt: Auf dem Wissenschaftsmarkt vor dem Alten Rathaus erleben Sie die Forschung an den vier Göttinger Max-Planck-Instituten – von der Sonne bis zum Molekül – und an weiteren MPIs aus dem gesamten Bundesgebiet. Informationen über Nachhaltigkeit und das Biotop-Projekt BioDiversum gibt es am Nachmittag auf dem Campus am Faßberg. Der Max-Planck-Tag endet mit einem Abendprogramm im Alten Rathaus: Ein Forschungs-Theater erklärt, wie ein Antibiotikum entsteht; anschließend stellen sechs Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen ihre Forschung im Science Slam vor.

Ausstellung
Die MPG-Wanderausstellung „Pioniere des Wissens. Die Nobelpreisträger*innen der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft“ ist vom 23. Juni bis zum 27. August 2023 im Forum Wissen zu sehen. Acht Themenpfade erzählen anschaulich, wie die mit dem Nobelpreis gekürte Forschung den Alltag der Menschen veränderte und die moderne Welt prägte. Darunter sind Albert Einsteins Relativitätstheorie, Paul Crutzens Arbeiten zu den Ursachen des Ozonlochs und Karl Zieglers Verfahren für die Herstellung von Polyethylen als Initialzündung des Plastikzeitalters sowie die STED-Mikroskopie des Göttinger Nobelpreisträgers Stefan Hell. Das Projekt macht anhand von zeitgenössischen und historischen Interviews die Persönlichkeiten lebendig und lädt ein, über die gesellschaftliche Reichweite wissenschaftlicher Forschung zu diskutieren.

In 2023, the Max Planck Society celebrates its 75th anniversary – at its founding site in Göttingen with a day of science presentations and displays on Friday, 23 June 2023. Everyone interested can marvel, discover and take part in a science market, guided tours and presentations as well as a science slam. In addition, an exhibition about the Nobel Laureates of the Max Planck Society will be opened in the Forum Wissen.
Max Planck Day
Basic research in all its diversity: You can explore the wonders of science and experience first-hand the research of various Max Planck Institutes from Göttingen – from the sun to the molecules – and all over Germany at the Science Market in front of the Old Town Hall. In the afternoon, find out about sustainability and environmental topics at the Max Planck Campus on the Faßberg. Or join us in the evening for the Research Theatre and Science Slam in the Old Town Hall.

Exhibition
Come and see the exhibition “Pioniere des Wissens. Die Nobelpreisträger*innen der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft“ (Pioneers of Knowledge. The Nobel Laureates of the Max Planck Society) from 23 June to 27 August in the Forum Wissen. Eight thematic paths vividly tell how Nobel Prize-winning research changed people’s everyday lives and shaped the modern world. Among them are Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity, Paul Crutzen’s work on the causes of the hole in the ozone layer and Karl Ziegler’s process for the production of polyethylene as the initial spark of the plastic age, as well as the STED microscopy of Göttingen Nobel Prize winner Stefan Hell. The project uses contemporary and historical interviews to bring the people to life and invites everyone to discuss the social scope of scientific research.
