New CeMig Member: Yasmin Dreessen

We would like to welcome and introduce Yasmin Dreesen, researcher at CeMig from 2025 until 2029. She works in the Göttingen team of the research area FuturMig – Production of Futures of Migration. 

Yasmin studied ethnology and gender studies at Georg August University in Göttingen and completed her master’s degree in cultural anthropology/European ethnology in 2025 with a thesis on the production of a “Problemimmobilie” between problematized migration from Southeast Europe and socio-political actions and negotiations, using the example of Groner Landstraße 9-9b in Göttingen. During her master’s degree, she participated in various projects at the interface between science and political education, including the bpb feasibility study on a nationwide NSU documentation center and the project Ver/Sammeln Antirassistischer Kämpfe (Collecting Anti-Racist Struggles), in which she collaborated with victims and relatives of the victims of NSU terrorism to create the podcast “Das Schweigen ist vorbei!” (The Silence is Over!).
Since January 2026 Yasmin is working at CeMig as a research assistant in the Lower Saxony joint project FuturMig – Production of Migration Futures. In this context involved in coordination and curatorial work at the Friedland Museum. Together with colleagues at the museum and with the participatory and collaborative involvement of other stakeholders, residents, and museum visitors, Yasmin is developing educational formats and a permanent exhibition area on the topic of “Futures of Migration” at the Friedland site as part of a real-world laboratory.
