Dezember<\/strong> findet von <strong>12 bis 16 Uhr <\/strong>die Masterclass &#8222;<strong>Executions and the Executed Body in the Early Modern World\u201c<\/strong> mit Anna Cusack aus Oxford statt. \u00d6ffentliche Hinrichtungen und der Umgang mit den Leichen der Hingerichteten waren ein markantes Merkmal fr\u00fchmoderner Gesellschaften. Sie pr\u00e4gten Vorstellungen von Gerechtigkeit, Autorit\u00e4t und Moral \u2013 und l\u00f6sten intensive \u00f6ffentliche Debatten aus. Diese Masterclass untersucht, wie Hinrichtungen in der fr\u00fchmodernen Welt durchgef\u00fchrt, dargestellt und diskutiert wurden und wie die Leichen der Hingerichteten als Ort der Bedeutung, Disziplin und sozialen Vorstellungskraft fungierten. Gemeinsam mit Dr. Anna Cusack (Oxford) und Sarah von Hagen (G\u00f6ttingen) analysieren die Teilnehmer historische Praktiken und Interpretationen von Hinrichtungen und betrachten dabei sowohl ihre sozialen Funktionen als auch ihre Bedeutung f\u00fcr die zeitgen\u00f6ssische Forschung. Die Masterclass steht fortgeschrittenen Bachelor-Studierenden, Master-Studierenden und Doktoranden offen, die sich f\u00fcr fr\u00fchneuzeitliche Geschichte, Rechts- und Politikgeschichte oder K\u00f6rpergeschichte interessieren.<br>Um sich zu bewerben, reichen Sie bitte ein kurzes Motivationsschreiben (max. 300 W\u00f6rter) ein, in dem Sie Ihren akademischen Hintergrund und Ihren aktuellen Studienstand (BA, MA oder PhD) darlegen. Public executions and the handling of the bodies of those executed were a striking feature of early modern societies. They shaped ideas of justice, authority and morality \u2013 and sparked intense public debate. This masterclass examines how executions were carried out, portrayed and discussed in the early modern world, and how the bodies of the executed functioned as sites of meaning, discipline and social imagination. Together with Dr Anna Cusack (Oxford) and Sarah von Hagen (G\u00f6ttingen), participants will analyse historical practices and interpretations of executions, considering both their social functions and their significance for contemporary research. The masterclass is open to advanced bachelor&#8217;s students, master&#8217;s students and doctoral candidates interested in early modern history, legal and political history or body history.<br>To apply, please submit a short letter of motivation (max. 300 words) outlining your academic background and current level of study (BA, MA or PhD).
