It is best suited for beginners and those who would like to refresh their knowledge about Statistics for their PhD. The course will not cover any advanced topics for statistical modeling.<br><br><strong>The course will cover the following topics:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>Type of Experiments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Descriptive statistics and forms of data visualizations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Statistical Inference:\n<ul>\n<li>Basics about Statistical Inference<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Point Estimates, Confidence Intervals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hypothesis Testing for 1, 2 and more Samples (z-test, t-test, ANOVA, nonparametric tests)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basics about Regression Analysis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basics about Bayesian Inference<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructor:<\/strong> Jens Lichter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Schedule:<\/strong> The course will take place on 16.-17. and 23.-24. of March, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m..<br>The afternoon sessions will be dedicated to practical exercises that can be done in groups or individually and in class or at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Registration<\/strong> for the courses <strong>will open on 15th of January, 2026<\/strong>. Please register for the course \u201eSeminar: Introduction to Statistics for PhD students\u201c in stud.ip (Modulenumber: 990058).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Credits:<\/strong> 1 Credit (Participants of both days will receive a certificate of attendance if requested.)<br>Participants will receive a certificate of attendance if requested.
