Göttingen Replication Games (07.04.2025)
Dear colleagues,
we are thrilled to invite you to the first Göttingen Replication Games — a one-day event run by the Institute for Replication (https://i4replication.org/) and dedicated to reproducing and replicating papers from top-tier academic journals. Replication is an essential part of the scientific process, as it verifies the robustness and reliability of published findings. By participating, you will not only help strengthen research integrity but also expand your network and sharpen your coding and research skills. Participants will be granted co-authorship to a meta-paper combining a large number of replications – an exciting publishing opportunity.
Göttingen Replication Games
- When: Monday, April 7th, 2025
- Where: University of Göttingen, Germany
- Who: Professors, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and other researchers
- What: Social science papers on various topics + a special theme on deforestation for interested participants. Just sign up, and we will match your interests with a suitable paper.
Why Attend?
- Hands-On Replication
You will form a small team of 3–5 researchers to replicate a published study. Participants will be matched based on research interests, and a study from a leading journal will be assigned to each team. Graduate students will work closely with more experienced researchers, ensuring that everyone benefits from shared expertise. - Networking
The Replication Games are an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow researchers from the University of Göttingen and beyond. You will discover new methods, data sources, and research insights while expanding your professional network. - Skill Development
Whether it’s refining your coding and data management techniques or learning new sensitivity analysis approaches, this workshop offers a supportive environment to advance your technical skills. - Impact
With participants’ permission, completed reproductions/replications will be made available on the Institute for Replication (I4R) website. Participants will be granted co-authorship on a meta-paper combining the reproductions – an exciting publishing opportunity.
Travel Assistance
A limited number of travel grants are available for participants based outside Göttingen contributing to the replication of papers on deforestation.
