We would like to inform about the new rules on good scientific practice<\/em> and recommendations for the declaration of the use of AI<\/em> by the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Update of G\u00f6ttingen university\u2019s rules on GRP<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The university\u2019s updated rules for ensuring good research practice<\/em>, replacing the previous version from 2021, came into effect last week and are available in German <\/a>and English<\/a> or via the website of the Ombuds Office<\/a>. They include several new aspects, including, for example, the requirement for transparency when using AI tools, as well as a definition of abuse of power as a breach of good research practice. Furthermore, procedural aspects of the ombuds system have been clarified, for example with regard to the duty to cooperate in the investigation of suspected cases of research misconduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A new edition of the explanatory brochure \u201cAn Orientation Framework for Good Research Practice\u201d is currently being prepared by the Ombuds Office<\/a> of the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Update of the recommendations of the university for dealing with AI models in study and teaching<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      The recommendations for dealing with AI models<\/a> have been updated. Replacing the previous checklist, five Guiding Questions for Transparency<\/a> are recommended to declare the use of AI tools:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. How was AI used in the development of ideas?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. How was AI used in working with literature and sources?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. How was AI used in the process of academic writing?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. How was AI used in the methodology and particularly in data collection and analysis?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. How was AI used in other activities?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
