[Reminder] Göttingen Emergent Minds Winter School: Learning and Computation in Brains and Machines (15 Feb – 6 Mar 2027, registration until 1 Sep 2026)
We are pleased to announce the Göttingen Emergent Minds Winter School: Learning and Computation in Brains and Machines, which will bring together researchers from neuroscience, machine learning, information theory, and applied mathematics to explore how complex systems learn, compute, and form representations.
The school will take place in Göttingen (Germany) from 15 February – 6 March 2027. Registration is open until 1 September 2026. There is no registration fee. The program will contain lectures, hands-on tutorials, hackathon projects, lab tours, a poster session and networking activities. The lecture series will be publicly available for people on site.
The school will cover topics including neural dynamics and synaptic plasticity, data-driven discovery of dynamical models, biologically inspired machine learning, information-theoretic approaches to causality, and experimental and data-analytic perspectives. A central aim is to foster a shared understanding of how brains and machines learn structure from the world and give rise to coherent computation across scales.
The winter school is intended for motivated students and early-career researchers with interests in computational neuroscience, machine learning, complex systems, dynamical systems, information theory, and related fields.
Date: 15 February – 6 March 2027
Registration: Application form – open until 1 September 2026, no registratrion fee
