Lange Nacht der Astronomie am 12. August 2026 / Night of Astrophysics on 12 August 2026
Am Mittwoch, 12. August 2026, laden das Institut für Astrophysik, das MPI für Sonnensystemforschung (MPS) und der Förderkreis Planetarium zur Langen Nacht der Astronomie am Nordcampus ein. Anlass sind die partielle Sonnenfinsternis und der Perseidenschauer.
Die Veranstaltung beginnt um 15.30 Uhr mit Planetariumshows für kleine und große Himmelsbegeisterte. Eine Anmeldung für diese Shows ist ab sofort möglich. Die Plätze sind begrenzt. Parallel bieten Forschende des MPS im Foyer des MPS an Informations- und Mitmach-Ständen Einblicke in ihre Forschung. Vorträge zur Geschichte der Sonnenforschung und zur Astrofotografie ergänzen das Programm. Ab 19 Uhr starten die Live-Beobachtungen der partiellen Sonnenfinsternis und dem Perseidenschauer auf der Besucherplattform des Instituts für Astrophysik. Die gesamte Veranstaltung ist kostenfrei.
Das Institut für Astrophysik befindet sich am Friedrich-Hund-Platz 1; schräg gegenüber, im Justus-von-Liebig Weg 3 ist das MPS.

The event begins at 15:30 with planetarium shows for stargazers of all ages (in German). Registration for these shows is now open. Places are limited. At the same time, researchers from the MPS will be offering insights into their work at information and hands-on stands in the MPS foyer. Talks on the history of solar research and astrophotography (in German) round off the programme. From 19:00, live observations of the partial solar eclipse and the Perseid meteor shower will begin on the visitor platform of the Institute of Astrophysics. The entire event is free of charge.
The Institute of Astrophysics is located at Friedrich-Hund-Platz 1; diagonally opposite, at Justus-von-Liebig Weg 3, is the MPS.
