Insektenparadies vor der SUB / Insect paradise in front of the SUB
Der Campus blüht auf: Vor der Zentralbibliothek der SUB Göttingen wurde im Mai ein insektenfreundliches Staudenbeet angelegt. Die AG Nachhaltigkeit der SUB hat das Projekt initiiert und koordiniert.
Mehr als 400 trockenheitsverträgliche Wildstauden aus Mittel- und Südeuropa sollen Wildbienen- und anderen Insekten als Nahrungsquelle dienen. Die Stauden wurden von Dr. Michael Schwerdtfeger, Kustos des Alten Botanischen Gartens, vorgezogen und dem Projekt geschenkt. Der Göttinger Student Jasper David Rasokat, der für sein Konzept „Ökologische Aufwertung am Zentralcampus“ im Ideenwettbewerb für Studierende 2022 ausgezeichnet wurde, konnte seine Erfahrung in das Projekt einbringen. Für die Umsetzung sorgten zudem neben der AG Nachhaltigkeit das Green Office, das Gebäudemanagement, Alumni Göttingen e.V. und die Stabsstelle Hausdienste und Logistik der SUB. Spontane Helfer*innen unterstützten tatkräftig vor Ort bei der Pflanzung.
Die Stadt Göttingen und der Universitätsbund Göttingen e. V. fördern das Projekt, das im Laufe des Sommers noch eine Tafel mit weiteren Informationen zum Projekt und den Tier- und Pflanzenarten erhält.
The campus is blooming: An insect-friendly perennial bed was planted in front of the SUB Göttingen Central Library in May. The SUB’s sustainability working group initiated and coordinated the project.
More than 400 drought-tolerant wild perennials from Central and Southern Europe are to serve as a food source for wild bees and other insects. The perennials were pre-grown and donated to the project by Dr Michael Schwerdtfeger, curator of the Old Botanical Garden. Student Jasper David Rasokat, who won an award for his concept „Ecological enhancement at the central campus“ as part of the 2022 ideas competition for students, was able to contribute his experience to the implementation.
In addition to the Sustainability Working Group (AG Nachhaltigkeit), the Green Office, Building Management, Alumni Göttingen e.V. and the SUB’s House Services and Logistics Department also ensured the successful implementation. Spontaneous helpers actively supported the planting on site.
The City of Göttingen and the Universitätsbund Göttingen e.V. are supporting the project, which will receive a plaque with further information about the project and the animal and plant species over the course of the summer.
