Was macht eine wissenschaftliche Laufbahn aus? Welche Herausforderungen gibt es auf dem Weg – und wer kann dabei unterstützen? Diese Fragen thematisiert der PhD Day 2026 am Freitag, 4. September 2026, am Max-Planck-Institut für Multidisziplinäre Naturwissenschaften (City Campus). Die Veranstaltung richtet sich an Promovierende und Nachwuchsforschende aus Göttingen.
Die Nobelpreisträger Prof. Dr. Erwin Neher und Prof. Dr. Stefan Hell sprechen über ihre Promotionszeit, Herausforderungen und Erfahrungen auf ihrem wissenschaftlichen Weg. Bei der Postersession präsentieren Promovierende ihre Forschung. An Ständen informieren unter anderem das Career Office, das Funding Office, der Transfer & Startup Hub sowie die Graduiertenschulen GGNB und GAUSS über Karriereplanung, Fördermöglichkeiten, Gründung und Transfer. Auch das Postdoc-Netzwerk ist vertreten.

What defines a career in science? What challenges lie ahead – and who can offer support along the way? These are the topics to be explored at PhD Day 2026 on Friday, 4 September 2026, at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences (City Campus). The event is aimed at PhD students and early-career researchers from Göttingen.
Nobel laureates Professor Erwin Neher and Professor Stefan Hell will talk about their time as PhD students, the challenges they faced and their experiences on their scientific journey. During the poster session, PhD students will present their research. At information stands, the Career Office, the Funding Office, the Transfer & Startup Hub and the GGNB and GAUSS graduate schools, amongst others, will provide information on career planning, funding opportunities, start-ups and technology transfer. The Postdoc Network will also be represented.
