Science goes City: Forschung in der Fußgängerzone am Sonntag, 19. April 2026 / Researchers present their work downtown on Sunday, 19 April 2026
Vielfältige Forschung trifft auf eine vielseitige Stadt: Beim Aktionstag „Science goes City“ am Sonntag, 19. April 2026, stellen Wissenschaftler*innen des Göttingen Campus von 12 bis 18 Uhr in der Innenstadt ihre Arbeit vor. Auch städtische Einrichtungen sind dabei. Zwischen 13 und 18 Uhr ist an diesem Tag auch verkaufsoffener Sonntag in der Innenstadt.
Anstatt in Laboren, Bibliotheken, Büros und Hörsälen präsentieren die Forschenden in der Fußgängerzone und in Innenstadtgeschäften spannende Wissenschaft aus allen Bereichen: Unter den mehr als 60 Programmpunkten ist von Robotern fürs Klassenzimmer über magische Rituale in der Antike, von Sonnenteleskopen und OP-Simulatoren über Künstliche Intelligenz und Virtual Reality bis zur Energiewende und Starkregensimulation alles dabei. Der Aktionstag ist eine Veranstaltung der Göttingen Marketing GmbH in Kooperation mit der Universität Göttingen und der Stadt Göttingen.
Das Bühnenprogramm vor dem Alten Rathaus beginnt um 12 Uhr mit der Begrüßung durch Göttingens Oberbürgermeisterin Petra Broistedt und Prof. Dr. Anke Holler, Vizepräsidentin für Berufungen der Universität Göttingen. Anschließend folgen dort verschiedene Tanzshows, Konzerte, eine Magie-Show und die Show „Zauberhafte Physik“.
Die Aktionen auf dem Wilhelmsplatz, in der Alten Mensa, an der Johanniskirche und in der restlichen Fußgängerzone beginnen ebenfalls um 12 Uhr – vom DLR-Windkanal über Neuro-Wellness, Blutgruppenbestimmung und das MINT-Mobil bis hin zur Nachhaltigkeitsrallye durch die Innenstadt. Im Laufe des Tages werden zudem thematische Stadtführungen angeboten. Besonders an Kinder und Jugendliche gerichtete Angebote wie die fünf Meter hohe Safari-Riesenrutsche, Outdoor-Spiele und der Stand der Wortschatzinsel gibt es auf dem Kirchhof von St. Johannis.
Diverse research meets a vibrant city: at the “Science goes City” event on Sunday 19 April 2026, researchers from the Göttingen Campus will be presenting their work in the city centre from 12:00 noon to 18:00. Local council organisations will also be taking part. On this day, shops in the city centre will also be open for business between 13:00 and 18:00.
Instead of in laboratories, libraries, offices and lecture theatres, researchers are presenting fascinating science from all fields in the pedestrian zone and in shops in the city centre: The programme features over 60 events, covering everything from robots for the classroom to magical rituals in antiquity, from solar telescopes and surgical simulators to artificial intelligence and virtual reality, right through to the energy transition and heavy rain simulations. The event is organised by Göttingen Marketing GmbH in cooperation with the University of Göttingen and the City of Göttingen.
The programme on the stage in front of the Old Town Hall begins at 12:00 noon with a welcome address by Göttingen’s Lord Mayor, Petra Broistedt, and Professor Anke Holler, Vice-President for Appointments at the University of Göttingen. This will be followed by various dance performances, concerts, a magic show and the „Magical Physics“ show.
The activities on Wilhelmsplatz, in the Alte Mensa, at Johanniskirche and in the rest of the pedestrian zone also begin at 12:00 noon – ranging from the DLR wind tunnel to neuro-wellness, blood-type testing and the MINT-Mobil, right through to the sustainability rally through the city centre. Themed city tours will also be offered throughout the day. Activities aimed particularly at children and young people, such as the five-metre-high giant safari slide, outdoor games and the Wortschatzinsel stand, will be available in the churchyard of St. Johannis.
